Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is a general term referring to the therapeutic interaction between a trained professional and an individual patient, family, couple, or group.

The issues addressed are psychological in nature and can vary in terms of their causes, influences, triggers, and potential resolutions.

Each patient begins with a thorough assessment. This allows Dr. Gomez an opportunity to effectively consider your unique history and the reasons why you have decided to participate in psychological treatment.

Treatment planning for each patient is determined with your goals and needs incorporated.  Dr. Gomez utilizes a therapeutic approach grounded in theory that every person is a unique individual with the capacity for significant growth and change. Psychotherapy is the process for increased self-understanding, acceptance, and moving towards change.

Dr. Gomez provides individual and family therapeutic services for a wide range of issues:

Psychological assessment

Assessment services are provided to answer a variety of questions related to cognitive and psychological issues. Dr. Gomez provides evaluation services for the following areas: learning disabilities, TBI, ADHD, mood disorders, personality disorders, and/or diagnostic clarification.

Telehealth/Video therapy

Does the idea of having therapy sessions from the comfort of your home appeal to you?

Telehealth (or telemedicine) has been in practice since the early 2000’s.  However, the use of Telehealth has become more available due to changes in society and research backing its application for patient satisfaction.

Telehealth services allow the facilitation of health-related services to patients via live video conferencing.  The platforms used for therapy services are HIPAA compliant, safe, and secure.  These platforms allow for greater access to services as they eliminate travel and distance.

Telehealth appointments can be very beneficial if getting to a traditional in-person appointment is a hassle for you.

If you lack the time or resources to use public transportation, are physically disabled or live in a remote area, telehealth appointments can help by removing the need to leave your home to attend an appointment.

The convenience of scheduling an appointment through a phone app cannot be understated. Quickly pick a date and time, and you’ve scheduled your online appointment. There’s no need to get ready, or even leave your bed or couch. If you have social anxiety or phobias that cause you to avoid social interactions, Telehealth makes it easier for you to get therapy.
